Child-Help supports the out-reach team of Bethany Kids in Kenya and financed a new car so that the team can safely take care of our children in 14 different locations across the country. Besides nurses, a physiotherapist, a social worker, there is also Julia Ruto. She is a mother of Diana, a child with spina bifida and a full and paid team member. She does parent-to-parent counselling and inspires the entire team to look beyond the disability alone. Child-help believes in the value of her contribution to the team. Living with spina bifida is so much more than just medical care. That is what Julia stands for, she adds the important aspect of “living everyday life” to the outreach team, and that is what it is all about. Life, indeed with a disability, but most of all life.
