Uganda: Katalemwa Chesire Home

Katalemwa Chesire Home is a rehabilitation centre for persons with disabilities. Children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus are being prepared here for their surgery. Katalemwa has a structural cooperation with our project in the CURE Children’s Hospital in Uganda for surgical procedures such as shunting, ETV, and closure of the back. After the operation, Katalemwa Cheshire Home provides the necessary post-surgery care and follow-up. They are experts in the fabricating wheelchairs, technical assistive devices and special seating aids. There also is a school attached to the centre and children with their parents can follow continence management trainings. The parents have even started an additional project (making chalk) to earn money.
